The Scope
The Alba Floating Storage Unit (FSU) has been a key part of the UK Central North Sea for more than 30 years and represents one of our most significant decommissioning projects. Following removal from the field, the vessel will undergo a phased programme of marine operations, load-in, dismantling and responsible recycling.
During the initial phase, the vessel will remain alongside the quay while preparatory works and marine operations are completed ahead of load-in. The Alba FSU will then be brought ashore using our proven float-on load-in methodology, successfully demonstrated on the Curlew FPSO project, where a submersible barge and modular transporters are used to transfer the asset safely onto the quayside.
Once complete, the project will further strengthen our position as a leading provider of offshore decommissioning and recycling services, building on experience gained from other major projects including Curlew FPSO, Janice A, Brae B, Dunlin Alpha and Eider.
