The project comprises the construction of a multi-purpose building with a gross floor area of approximately 9,500 m². The building will include office and commercial premises as well as 175 student housing units.
Plot D is located adjacent to VID Specialized University, the future Fridtjof Nansen Upper Secondary School, and the new Diakonhjemmet metro station, which AF Gruppen is already constructing for Diakonhjemmet Foundation. The contract will complete the development of Diakonhjemmet Hage.
"We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Diakonhjemmet Foundation. Through the collaborative development phase, we have jointly developed sustainable, cost-effective and buildable solutions. We now look forward to delivering the final building in Diakonhjemmet Hage," says Tormod Solberg, EVP Building at AF Gruppen.
The building will be constructed in accordance with Passive House standards and achieve Energy Class A. The project aims to obtain BREEAM-NOR Excellent environmental certification.
“Oslo has a significant and persistent need for more student housing. We are now helping to increase capacity with 175 student apartments in a central location in Oslo. Modern commercial premises will facilitate greater collaboration, development and innovation among the organisations based in the area. We are extremely proud of what we are creating at Diakonhjemmet Hage,” says CEO Ingunn Moser.
AF Gruppen has participated in the development of the project through an early contractor involvement phase in close collaboration with the client. Construction is scheduled to commence in February 2027, with expected completion in the first quarter of 2029.
“It is particularly valuable that we are able to continue our collaboration with AF Gruppen on the final sub-project at Diakonhjemmet Hage. Their familiarity with the area and experience from the wider development project provide a strong foundation for maintaining a holistic approach and delivering on our ambitions for the area,” concludes Ingunn Moser.
