Environmental and Reuse Assessments
Environmental Assessment
An environmental assessment must be carried out before demolition or refurbishment to determine whether hazardous substances are present. This requirement applies to projects over 100 m² or where more than 10 tonnes of waste will be generated. The findings are documented in an environmental assessment report along with a waste management plan.
Our experienced environmental consultants can conduct inspections at short notice, perform necessary material sampling, and prepare a clear and comprehensive report.
This provides a solid basis for accurate cost estimation and ensures that all waste is handled in compliance with regulations. It also contributes to safe working conditions for those carrying out the demolition work.
Reuse Assessment
When demolishing or refurbishing a residential block or commercial building, a reuse assessment report must also be prepared.
Our specialists at AF Decom assess the building, and any relevant fixtures or furnishings, to identify materials and components with reuse potential. The reuse report gives you a complete overview of reusable elements, supported by concrete, professional evaluations.
AF Decom has the expertise to carry out both environmental and reuse assessments, either as part of a demolition contract or as independent services. Get in touch for a tailored quote.
Early Assessments Reduce Costs
A clear overview of contaminated materials makes demolition costs more predictable and reduces financial risk. Information about contamination is also essential when determining the reuse potential of materials.
To enable reuse, or if parts of the existing structure are to be integrated into a new building, the environmental and reuse assessments should be carried out early in the process, ideally during or prior to the design phase of the new project.
Experience shows that the best results are achieved when the developer, architect, consulting engineer and demolition contractor work together from an early stage. This allows us to combine expertise and develop practical, cost‑effective and sustainable solutions that also support good design outcomes.
