Up to now, this has been the largest demolition project in Norway. The project encompasses the demolition of all structures and installations above and below ground at the refinery.
Electrical cables and instruments, as well as environmentally hazardous substances were dismantled manually, before the demolition machinery was brought in. The refinery was torn down selectively, with a recycling degree of 98.3 %. A part of the plant was dismantled for reuse in other oil and industrial plants, including these structures of up to 350 tons.
