In May AF Anlegg in Sauda made a "world record" in tunnel advance with 165 m in one week. The Client for the hydropower project is Elkem Saudafaldene AS.
We have a lot of good experience in tunneling in Norway. And there have been some unofficial world records in Norway earlier, i.a. at Svalbard in 2003 with 150 m in one week and at Berdalsvatnet in 1984 with a weekly advance at 159 meter, but nobody have heard about 165 m earlier.
The actual tunnel against Dalvatn had good rock conditions and weekly advance have been between 100 - 120 m, in several weeks, with an earlier peek advance at 132 m in the 6,800 m long tunnel. The record week was done by 33 blasting rounds in the tunnel with an area of 38 sq m.
