The deadline for the competition was 23 May. Five finalists were selected and will present their proposals to the jury on 17 June. The winner will be announced the same day. The prize is a fantastic trip to outer space!
On 17 June we will also announce the winner of the junior competition that AF has organised in collaboration with Naturfagsenteret (The Norwegian Centre for Science Education). In the school class category, each member of the winning class will take home an iPad. The iPad is also the prize for individual entrants in the junior competition.
Join us in building on Mars
In 150 - 200 years human beings will establish a colony on the planet Mars. How will we build and live, get energy and protect the environment?

Our competition "Join us in building on Mars!" invites creative engineers, students and others to contribute to the development of environmentally sustainable and future-oriented plans and technological solutions for the planet Mars.
AF's vision is to clean up the past and build for the future, and we are one of the largest co-operations in Norway within building, construction, energy and environmental technology. If we are going to find the best solutions, we must have the ability to think outside the box and be future-oriented. Even if it is a long time until we can build on Mars, our challenge to innovate on another planet may spark ideas for innovation on Earth.
Today, Norway lacks thousands of engineers, and this year only half as many engineers as the industry actually needs will graduate. AF wants to play a part in increasing interest around the engineering profession, and offers an astronomical challenge.
