The Bjørvika Project

In connection with the E18 in Oslo between the Festning Tunnel and the Ekeberg Tunnel being joined together with a tunnel under Bjørvika and Bispevika, AF Decom has performed demolition work.

Marine and land-based work on Sørenga and Bjørvika
The demolition work has by and large encompassed structures from the new main roadway from the edge of the wharf at Bispevika to just about the middle of the Ekeberg Tunnel. Complex work operations with the dismantling of tunnel fittings, etc., were carried our in connection with the expansion of the Ekeberg Tunnel.

AF Decom has, in parallel with the demolition work, performed comprehensive excavations down to 8 metres below the surface of the sea. Contaminated earth was dug up and transported to Langøya for deposition. The excavations were organised so archaeological investigations of the soil could be performed efficiently and with the least possible effect on the progress of the project.

The operational execution was completely central to the project, with provisions for the routing of traffic within the area as well as with regards being paid to the surroundings. The traffic to and from the Ekeberg Tunnel and Mosseveien was maintained undisturbed during the entire duration of the project. Likewise, the railway traffic on the Østfold track and the freight route to Sjursøya were kept in operation. The project also posed substantial requirements for capacity and flexibility, as well as the ability to accommodate delays due to unforeseen conditions.
