AF Gruppen is awarded the contract for removing and decommissioning of the abandoned ship, Murmansk.
AF Gruppen’s environmental business unit, AF Decom Onshore will conduct the work. The agreement includes work related to map, remove and recycle the ship.
The Russian cruiser was torn apart when towed. The ship sank outside Sørvær on the coast of Finnmark on December 24 1994.Published: 5/15/2009
The coast guard received 6 tenders for this contact. AF Gruppen was rewarded due to its environmental profile and low risk solution. The tender also offers the best technical solution for a safe dismantle.
The contract is worth NOK 238.9 million, excl. VAT. The project is planned to start summer 2009 and finish in 2011. The area will be brought back to its original state when the project finishes.
