Moss Airport Rygge

Rygge Airport – district heating that is taking off. District Heating is an area of focus for AF Energi & Miljøteknikk. And during the course of a short period of time we have built up Norway's most advanced competence environment in it.

Rygge Airport is a good example of the execution, operation and development of a district heating system with large gains both financially and environmentally.

AF Energi & Miljøteknikk delivered design, development and operation of substations based upon renewable energy. A project that through its own energy production was significantly profitable for the customer. At Rygge we have a substation based upon two-step heat pumps, electricity and gas, and the delivery included project planning and construction management of the local heating network, as well as the delivery of customer substations for terminal buildings. The total delivery of heating and cooling substations of 4 MW were completed at a total value of approx NOK 16 million.

"The job has gone according to plan. Even though it has not been a completely standard task, we have succeeded in installing Norway's largest high-temperature heat pump and outdoor air as an energy source", says Andersson.

The job at Rygge Civil Airport began in February and for various periods there have been three consultant and ten construction workers on the job. AF Energi & Miljøteknikk has had the responsibility for the entire project.

”It has been a hectic project with a short construction period. We have had to think on our feet for some things, however everything has gone relatively smoothly.”
