Proposed changes to the "Regulations on energy labeling of buildings and energy assessment of technical systems" of May 2010 is adopted.
All energy certificates, including those issued in the period 1 January - 30 June is still valid for 10 years after the date of issue.
Transitional arrangements have been removed
It was previously added up to a transitional arrangement that the labeling was not required before 1 January 2012. This transitional period has been removed in the Regulations which came into force on 1 July 2010.
New energy character and warm note
From 1 July contains energy certificate a new energy label that contains a power character and a warm character. Energy grade shows the energy efficient of home or building. Heating mark shows how much of the warming that can be covered with other energy sources than electricity, oil and gas, ie the extent to which the building can use other energy sources than electricity, oil and gas for heating and hot water, and is independent of the energy grade.

Vocational and commercial buildings will be marked by a professional who meets the competency requirements as outlined in the energy labeling regulations (norwegian version). The marking involves a review of technical and structural qualities that affect the building energy state.
In addition to commercial buildings to be labeled if they are to be sold or rented out, all commercial buildings over 1,000 sq m (floor space) have energy certificate anyway.
