AF signs energy-saving contract with Avinor

AF to ensure profitable use of energy at Avinor’s airports

Initially the agreement covers nine of Avinor’s twelve airports. Energy production will also be assessed at the international and regional airports. The agreement is based on the energy saving contract designed for public procurements.

“Avinor’s target is a 20% reduction of the total energy consumption. Through this contract with AF Energi & Miljøteknikk, we shall use the first six months to review the final investment requirement. AF’s tender was the best, based on the award criteria of profitability, competence and experience, organisation and progress,” says Rune Roger Johansen, property manager at Avinor.

The length of the agreement will depend on the payback period for each airport. In the contract model, AF is given incentives to use its competence and creativity to tailor a package of measures that will give Avinor the greatest possible savings and profitability. The work begins with planning and implementing energy efficiency measures. AF is responsible for the entire project, including implementation and the follow up process, and guarantees savings and profitability.

“This agreement with Avinor is a large and important one for AF Energi- og Miljøteknikk. In this agreement, AF will draw on its extensive competence resources in energy consumption so that Avinor can achieve a substantial and long term reduction in both energy and energy costs in its buildings and facilities. This agreement is intended to be profitable for Avinor, for the AF Group and, not least, for the environment,” says Pål Egil Rønn, CEO of AF Group.
