Wharf at Cape Amsterdam, Svalbard

AF has extended existing wharf at Cape Amsterdam on Svalbard for Store Norske Spitsbergen Kullkompani AS.

Development of existing wharf at Cape Amsterdam in Van Mijen Fjord near Svea on Svalbard. Total length of the wharf is 195 metres.

The project encompassed foundation work in very difficult ground conditions, with the use of sheet piling and steel pipe piles. In addition, the project encompassed dredging for deepening the basin in front of the wharf, filling in sheet piling boxes, concrete works and misc. mounting of crane rails, etc.

The project was carried out during the course of the summer in the year 2000, i.e. from May to October.
