Snøhvit - Hammerfest LNG Plant

AF has taken part in construction of Snøhvit - Hammerfest LNG Plant at Melkøya for Statoil ASA.

AF has been part of the Snøhvit project from 2002 until 2007, through Site Preparation, Break water, Seawater tunnel system, Construction Jetty, Production Jetty, Piping and cable channels, Concrete constructions, Foundations, Buildings and other Civil Works.

Civil 1 - Site Preparation (2002 - 2003)
Site preparational works for processing plant at Melkøya, which include blasting and landscaping of process area (approx. 2.5 mill. m3 rock for block production and filling), construction of break water protection with length of 900 m and volume of 0.7 mill. m3 (block classification from 1.5 to 35 metric ton), blasting of approx. 1,500 m tunnels for cooling water (21 m2), construction jetty, dock for barge (approx. 18,000 m2 sheet pile cells), temporary facilities and services, temporary infrastructure with roads, water, electricity, telecom and sewage, etc. (approx. 5,500 m roads).

Product Jetty (2003 - 2005)
Construction of product jetty for LNG vessels in a turnkey contract. The length of jetty head is 120 m and is covered by 7 fenders (each 36 m2). The jetty contents of 3,500 m steel pipe piles with concrete, together with 12 mooring points with quick release hooks and mooring load monitoring system and 2 access brigdes. Snow melting system, electrical work and corrosion protection are included in the scope of work.

Civil 2 & 3 - Civil Works (2003 - 2006)
The project is a general contract for construction-related work. The scope of the work encompasses ground work, piping and cable channels, roads and parking lots, several isolated buildings, foundations for mechanical units and modules, pipe racks for gas pipe packages, various finishing work and landscaping. Nearly 90% of the of the extent of the work was to be finished during the autumn of 2004.
 
The main quantities involved in the contract are:
• Approx. 50,000 m3 concrete for foundations and pipe racks
• Approx. 20,000 m3 concrete for 9 buildings.
• Approx. 13,000 m of piping with diameters of up to 2200 mm
• Approx. 7,000 m of cable conduits
• Approx. 12,000 m2 of concrete covering

Civil 4 - Civil Works (2006-2007)
Further Civil Works for Statoil at Melkøya.
